Studio Hinrichs engages in all types of design projects, including corporate communications, brand identity, promotion, publishing (books and magazines), packaging, interactive and environmental systems. Over the course of his 45 years in design, Kit has won hundreds of national and international awards for his work and has been the creative force behind several of the most successful and most recognized graphic and brand identities known today. The work on this website represents a sampling of projects that Kit directed over the years as well as his latest projects produced under Studio Hinrichs. Whether the end purpose is a logo, packaging, marketing program, environmental wayfinding system, promotion piece, consumer magazine or a book, we believe that the most effective design has a narrative thread. It communicates rather than decorates. It promotes understanding of a subject or philosophy. It makes the complex simple; the opaque, transparent; the unstructured, concrete; the obtuse, accessible; the ordinary, beautiful, and, ultimately, the message memorable. Narrative design is a way to help our clients tell the story of who they are and what they value and do so in a way that holds the viewers’ interest and makes them care.
